Letting Go

He sat there quietly staring into the crowd but from the look on his face he was not paying attention to anything that was going on around him. His body was there but not his mind, spirit or soul, I looked at him and a tear fell from my eye, his hand stretched immediately to catch it. While he was wiping the tear he uttered these words "I'll be ok, don't worry about me, it's time for me to let go"

Those words pierced my heart I stood up and went to the loo to cry out my anger and pain. Letting go was not an option after this far we've come together, the struggles we've gone through. I wanted him to keep fighting and not to let go because there was hope, no matter how tiny it was, it was still hope. I looked into the mirror and stared, it was evident that it was time for me to also let go. The white flag had been raised meaning the end of the journey.

He fell in love with her the moment he set his eye on her it was love at first sight. Her smile and the way she looked into his eye rekindled feelings he thought he'll never get to experience ever again due to his nasty past. God had given him another chance and he was not going to let it slip through his fingers. However that was not the case, when all was well, everything came crumbling down and in a blink of an eye she was no longer his but someone else.

Each passing day for the last one year he's been torturing himself with so many questions asking himself why he did what he did to let her go. If he could turn back time, he'll do it to bring back the woman he loved back into his life but unfortunately that's not the way things work. In real life we have to deal with the consequences of our actions no matter how painful it is. Each time he saw her happy and smiling, he wished he were the reason behind her glow.

They were both my friends and I wanted them to end up together. Their happiness was so important to me that I was willing to rebuild what they had lost. I started on the journey, it wasn't an easy one, I fought with her and him, bitter words were uttered and amazing memories were created. I'm now standing here by myself, him seated there and her in bed sleeping ready to pull down the curtains, as this was the end of the road for the three of us.

What's awaiting on the other side is something amazing and it would have been remarkable if only we were apart of it all together. She'll soon be wearing that white gown that every little girl hopes to be wearing and walk down the aisle to celebrate love and a beginning of a new life with the person who's responsible of her smile.

I walked him to his car and told him "Destiny has something else planned out for you. She's someone else’s destiny and it's time we accepted that. Close that chapter no matter how hard it will be because soon she'll be building a new life with the love of her life and you won't be apart of it" He looked at me with balancing tears and told me "I'll always love her but it's true I need to find my destiny"
