Meaning of Independent: Not dependent on anything else for function or validity etc In the 21 st Century the word miss independent has been thrown around like a basketball, both men and women have used it to justify their actions. In 2008 the American R&B singer Ne-Yo released a song describing the independent woman, a woman he would love to be with. This is a woman who has achieved and is still on that ladder of achieving more. She’s the woman who has her finances all set, driving the latest car model and living in the leaf suburbs, she seats in the big boys table.
